Fifth and Sixth Topic
Hey people I am back to post about the topics I learned. The two topics I am going to post today are Computer Mediated Communication and Instructional Courseware Design.
COMPUTER MEDIATED COMMUNICATION.
- Form of communication or interaction between two or more people via separate computers through network connection.
- Any communication patterns.
CMC in Education.
- Started 1980 - 1990s with the introduction of CALL.
- Email and forum opened a widespread.
- Internet Chat Rooms in the mid 1990s allowed direct communication.
- Implemented for long distance teaching/learning.
- Increases in popularity of e-tutoring through forums and video conferencing.
TYPES OF CMC.
ASYNCHRONOUS COMMUNICATION.
- Is not synchronised
- Conversation does not depends on immediate answer.
- Email, blogs and many more.
SYNCHRONOUS COMMUNICATION.
- It is synchronised.
- Conversation is answered instantly and immediately.
- Allows for direct communication.
- Internet chat rooms, messenger and many more.
CMC and LONG DISTANCE LEARNING.
- Late 2000s, CMC was implemented for distance learning.
- Synchronous communication allows teacher and learner to interact without being in a same location example video conferencing, E- tutoring and many more.
COLLABORATIVE LEARNING.
- Educational approach that includes gatherings of students cooperating to take care of an issue, finish an assignment, or make an item.
- Google Doc, Google Drive and etc.
AUTHENTIC COMMUNICATION.
- Access and opportunity to communicate with each other learners and native speakers.
- Context and learning material of communication is real rather than stimulated.
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF CMC
ADVANTAGES
No distance and time barriers
Makes collaborations easier.
Social influences and detriments are reduced or eliminated
DISADVANTAGES
Inhibitions related to technology.
Problems with accessing technology.
Lack of socio-emotional, nonverbal cues and real human contact.
As a conclusion this is the notes that I learned from CMC which is quite interesting as I am someone who uses the technology. I hope this information could help about this topic☺☺☺
INSTRUCTIONAL COURSEWARE DESIGN
- The acquisition of knowledge and skill more efficient, effective and appealing.
- Figure out about the needs of the learner, learning and invent something to achieve the objectives.
- Mix the Behaviorist and Constructivist learning theory.
LEARNERS NEEDS.
- Learner's need to learn needs analysis - SYLLABUS - SURVEY- FREE WRITING - PUBLIC RECORDS.
LEARNING OUTCOMES.
- An aim to achieve the learning experience.
- The learning outcomes that can be measurable to access the success of learners.
INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN
- Create materials and lessons to instruct learners.
- Need Analysis used.
- Learning outcomes gives the lessons a unified aim to be achieved.
ISD involves
Creation of syllabus and Planning of lesson
INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN CALL
- Involves creating computer courseware.
- Courseware as supplement/support to lesson and not as complete replacement.
- It can be designed for use inside and outside of lesson.
PLATO (1960-2006) Programmed Logic for Automated Teaching Operations.
- 1st computer assisted instruction system.
- Can be programmed to teach any course and expensive.
ADDIE MODEL- A framework for the development of instructional coursework.
